Providing free mediation and consumer advocacy services

The North Essex Dispute Resolution Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides consumer advocacy and dispute resolution services through the North Essex Consumer Protection Program and North Essex Mediators.  The services of both programs are offered free of charge to the residents of the 22 cities and towns in northern Essex County. We are funded by the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General and the Massachusetts Trial Court.

The North Essex Consumer Protection Program helps consumers solve problems with businesses and tenants resolve conflicts with landlords.  To begin the process, you may contact us or file a consumer complaint on the Mass.gov website.  Assistance is offered free of charge.  The program does not help with private-party sales, business-to-business disputes or complaints against government agencies. The Center also provides information on a wide range of consumer topics. 

 North Essex Mediators helps to resolve many types of conflicts, including business-to business and private-party disputes.  Through mediation, parties work to arrive at a mutually agreeable resolution with the help of a trained and neutral third party.  Many small claims and civil court cases may be successfully resolved through mediation.  The process is voluntary and confidential.  It is offered free of charge through the North Essex Dispute Resolution Center.
